Ingredients
  • Roasted red rice flour - 600g
  • Hot water - 700ml
  • Salt - As you need
  • Grated coconut - As you wish
Instructions
  1. Take the roasted red rice flour.
  2. Add salt in the hot water and mix well.
  3. Add the salt-mixed-hot-water little by little while mixing the flour.
  4. Mix well to small thick pieces.
  5. Now put those on a flat surface and using a sharp edge cup or tin make them to a crumble texture.
  6. Get ready with the grated coconut.
  7. Place the puttu steamer on the stove and boil the water until the steam comes out from the top of the steamer.
  8. Now take off the top of the steamer and fill that with the dry crumble mixture and grated coconut. I fill that in the following way. Grated coconut -> dry crumble dough -> grated coconut -> dry crumble dough -> grated coconut -> dry crumble dough -> grated coconut.
  9. Steam it till the steam comes out through the top of the steamer. For me, it takes about 4 minutes.
  10. Once done, unmold the puttu.
